Lookout proves a big success for Salthouse
New north coast restaurant The Lookout has reported a successful launch, with 3,000 covers served in its first month.
The Ballycastle eatery, based at The Salthouse hotel, opened in recent weeks following a £1.5 million investment.
The 30 new jobs created at the venue include 13 international staff.
Some 10 new chef positions have been created for the restaurant, which features a predominantly European menu.
Carl McGarrity, above, director at The Salthouse Hotel, said the decision to add a second restaurant on the coastal site was prompted by the growing demand for breaks in the 24-bed hotel, which also boasts six eco-lodges and a spa.
“We are very pleased with the reception the launch of The Lookout has received,” he said.
“We had high expectations and our team, new and old, delivered to a very satisfied customer base from near and far.
“When we launched The Salthouse in 2019, we knew we were fulfilling a void in the hospitality scene, and the subsequent demand from our customers has led to our expansion, including the addition of the new restaurant.
“The Lookout offers a relaxed dining alternative that complements our existing à la carte venue and provides our guests with the sustainable experience that is synonymous with The Salthouse culture.”
