Luna hopes to be a shining light in Carrick food scene

A new restaurant has opened its doors in Carrickfergus, promising to cater to cater to “all tastes, from locally sourced seafood to vegetarian delights, all crafted with a modern twist”.

Luna, on North Street, is owned by local entrepreneur Neil Johnston and launched in May.

Neil says Luna “is more than just a place to grab a coffee or enjoy some amazing food“. He added that when you step inside, you’ll smell freshly brewed coffee and and see the ‘stylish and cosy’ decor.

The owner said: “We wanted to create a space that celebrates everything special about Northern Ireland and Carrickfergus while offering something fresh and new.

“Luna represents not only our love for great food but our commitment to revitalizing our town.

“Our goal with Luna is to create a place where people can feel at home, enjoy great food, and reconnect with others.”

Luna also says it emphasizes sustainability, with efforts to minimize waste and source ingredients from local farmers and producers.

A statement continued: “The opening of Luna is more than just an economic boost; it is a cultural milestone for Carrickfergus. It serves as a reminder that amidst the closures and uncertainties, there is always room for new beginnings. As diners enjoy their meals under the soft glow of Luna’s lights, they are not just experiencing a night out—they are part of a broader narrative of hope and renewal.

“As Carrickfergus continues to navigate the complexities of the current economic landscape, the success of Luna stands as a beacon of what can be achieved with passion, perseverance, and community support. Here is to Luna, a new star in our town, lighting the way forward.”
