Danish brewing giant Carlsberg has forecast an average annual increase in revenue of 3% to 5% between 2023 and 2027.

The company made the prediction at it revealed plans to expand in premium beers, alcohol free brews, and other categories such as ready-to-drink cocktails and hard seltzer.

Ahead of issuing 2021 results, Carlsberg said 2022 will be a transition year, with plans to tap growth opportunities in the UK, France, Switzerland, China, India, and Vietnam.

Also in its plans is the expansio0n of its Garage and Somersby brands as it explores non-beer categories, which also include cider and hard lemonade.

The brewer forecast operating profit would increase as much as 12% in 2021 after sales of its Tuborg and Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc brands surged in China.

Launching its new five-year strategy, Carlsberg said: “Consumers are increasingly looking for beverages outside the beer category, such as cider, hard lemonade, hard seltzers, and ready-to-drink cocktails.

“We see attractive growth opportunities in several of these categories, leveraging brands such as Somersby and Garage.”

Last year Budweiser said it was speeding up its testing of new products with energy drinks, seltzers, and non-alcoholic drinks in its product pipeline.

“There are some consumer occasions and functional needs that we can answer with beer, but others we can better suit with other products,” the brewer said.

Probably the best news you’ll read today – Carlsberg is offering thousands of complimentary pints in pubs across Northern Ireland. The good news means people in NI can enjoy a free pint of Carlsberg Pilsner while getting together responsibly at the pub, to catch up on all that’s been going on.

Colum Campbell, Carlsberg Marketing Manager at Diageo Ireland, says: ‘It’s a tough time right now for everyone. The objective of this giveaway is to support pubs and bars as they welcome those getting together safely and responsibly.

‘We know people no longer take for granted the simple pleasure of a pint and a chat with a friend. We wanted to do something to support those who are making up for lost time and getting together in a safe way, so we thought we could provide the pint and they can provide the chats.’

A total of 25,000 pints are being offered across the island of Ireland as part of Carlsberg’s ‘A Pint With Your Name On It’ campaign. Advertising to support the giveaway launches this week across Northern Ireland.

The pints can be claimed at anyexcuse.com/promo/yourcarlsbergNI and redeemed at more than 200 pubs and bars across Northern Ireland. A full list of participating outlets is available on the AnyExcuse website.
