Detailed plans for the transformation of the the Templeton Hotel in Templepatrick have been revealed.

The Galgorm Collection – owned by Tullymore House Ltd – spent £7m to acquire the aging hotel in February this year.

The group, which already owns the prestigious Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort in nearby Ballymena, has said that once the refurbishment is complete, the hotel should have a workforce of around 100.

Work on the transformation is set to start this week and the new-look hotel should be open for business in the spring.

All 24 guestrooms at the Templeton will be replaced and upgraded. A brand new and expansive bar and restaurant, Hunters Bar & Grill, will also take centre stage on the ground floor and will be open to guests and non-residents.

The hotel’s extensive conference and banqueting facilities are a key focus of the planned investment and will be a defining feature of the new hotel, say it owners. A stunning new wedding event and function room – The Loft – is expected to be a major draw for bookings into 2020 and beyond.

Galgorm Collection managing director, Colin Johnston says that the development plans will ‘dramatically enhance’ the property, ensuring its future as a ‘stylish boutique hotel’.

‘Stunning new rooms and the addition of an outstanding restaurant and bar will fully complement a compelling new wedding brand which is backed by years of expertise and exceptional service,’ added Colin.

The purchase of the hotel adds to Galgorm’s already impressive suite of hospitality investments this year. A £3m investment is underway at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort with the development of 17 cottage suites, refurbishment of Gillies Bar, an upgrade to 23 standard guestrooms, spa developments and a conservatory at Castle Kitchen & Bar in the nearby Galgorm Castle.

In Belfast, there has been a £100,000 investment at Café Parisien in Donegall Place with its Grey Goose Terrace, due to open later this month.

Last month, Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort was awarded the Four AA Red Star Award for excellence in quality and hospitality. The property also currently holds the title of Global Luxury Spa Hotel of the Year .
